PonTan ecology.

PonTan ecology.

The day starts slowly at noon.

PonTan's day started a little late.
When you wake up, the first thing you do is check economic programmes and market news with a cup of coffee in hand.
A rough market outlook is summarised in a notebook, looking at the day's focus currency pairs and economic indicators.
The pace is typical of PonTan, with the routine starting at noon, which is slightly different from the morning rush.

Aimed at European time waves

PonTan basically trades mainly in European time.
The market is based on price movements during the hours when Londoners are entering the market in earnest, and the market waves are observed for entry opportunities.
As for the New York market, I only lightly participate in the market when it moves.
Another of my rules is to "decide when not to do it."

Observation and determining timing

PonTan is basically not the type of person who keeps staring at the charts.
Set up alerts with home-made tools, measuring the size and momentum of market waves.
When the sound is heard, check the chart and decide whether you want to go with the flow at that moment.
The key is not to stick around and watch, but to 'not miss' the flow.
I try to avoid unnecessary entries and only react to targeted moves.

Programming is part of the trade

Once you have today's outlook in mind, you are just in programming mode.
Writing code next to the charts is also part of PonTan's daily routine, whether it is creating tools to publish on the blog or improving the functionality of his own tools.
How to show and record the market. All such innovations are part of the trade.
When I need to concentrate, I face the code silently with my favourite energy drink in hand.

The right distance between the market and life.

When the European market pauses, PonTan leaves the computer for a time.
Before entering New York time, go out for a dog walk to reset your mood.
To face the market, it is important not only to concentrate, but also to take "moderate breaks".
We are conscious of such a balance, loosely linking trade and livelihood.

New York time, from the dare reset.

The New York market is characterised by a dramatic change in the "face" of the market.
PonTan uses this timing to reset the market outlook once it has been in mind.
Basically, New York is a market where it is easy for the flow to gain momentum and a clear sense of direction.
If there is a move to counteract the flow of Londoners, that is where we see the opportunity.

Thinking mode in the bath at night.

New York time is not an active entry time for PonTan.
That's why I spend my time soaking in my favourite bath, planning the programme I will create the next day and organising my ideas.
Of course, the market has not left completely, only the alerts have been set exactly.
If an opportunity presents itself, I just go in. I live with the New York time in such a "relaxed style".

Self-observation in the name of a journal

What I felt that day, what went well and what didn't.
PonTan keeps a 'trade journal' every night, reflecting on the day at the end of the day.
We believe that the clues to growth are "inside" us, which is why we value these habits.

Ecology can also be observed on social networks.

I sometimes post on social networking sites on a whim about little things I notice while trading or how I feel at the time.
PonTan's ecology can be observed loosely in the corners of the internet as well as in the logbooks.
If you are interested in the realistic process of trial and error and growth, take a look.

Summary of PonTan's trading style

✔ My pace rhythm starting at noon.
✔ Mainly in Europe, "wait and see" in New York.
✔ Alert-oriented entry decisions.
✔ Thorough visualisation and reflection with tools and logbooks
✔ Not overdoing it, but when you have to do it, you do it. That is my trading style.
